I dont have to put the cone right on the intake mani to know that its a stupid idea. Why would you want to make your intake any shorter than a short ram intake? If anything I would want my intake to be longer(because its daily driven). Personaly I would like my power to be on the low to mid range but thats just me. Do what ever makes your heart content.

well if you want a few more mpgs, you could use overinflated 155/80/13, block 3/4 of your grill(only in the winter!), fabricate a cover you can bolt to the bottom of the car that will make the bottom flat to reduce drag(minus the tires, of course).

i have a friend who has an 07 or 08 civic with overinflated stock tires, grill-blocked, and with a self-made giant skid-plate thing and he consistantly gets 42mpg. He never gets below 38.

... worth a try.

AND

combine that with the filter directly on the throttle body and it will be super fast and still get a million miles per gallon!

Hey hell sol! Do you have money poring out the a$$?
hey i started with a 91 std hatch IMO the worst but it was mine. Now with research and time to study threads and ask questions I have a clean JDM d15b vtec for under 700$ about 130hp @ the crank. Yes Folks don't rip me up, Its just math i did. Honda hobby isn't always cheap but always fun and intuitive. In a couple weeks I'm swapping in a B18b ls turbo for dd'ing. DONT waste money with your DPFI!
Which looks better

Can anyone on this forum just answer the simple questions...is there a simple change to be made to a D15B1 engine to gain any power? The question is not, "What motor should I buy if upgrading from a D15B1 engine."
Guys, D15B1's have 70hp.....it sounds like a D15B2 cam and computer would render me an instant 25 horsepower. This would be noticeable, why does everyone keep trying to push the later motors. We all know later motors are better for power, upgrading, etc.....I have a 1972 Malibu 350 car that had a 2barrel carb on a 350...200 hp if lucky, it now has a 2012 fuel injected LS3 in it...396 hp to the ground.

I don't know if it would be an instant +25hp, but you answered your own question here.

For the record, if you're going through that much trouble you should do the MPFI conversion at the same time. You'll get a bit more hp and you'll be ready for any kind of swap later on if you choose to do so.

Thanks...I more less was just trying to help out anyone else that had asked the question. I think everyone understands about the B series by far out performing the D series engines, but I am on of the D15B1 owners that is just curious about making a 70 hp engine a 92 hp engine for simple power gains.

D15B1(70'ish hp) 4spd car to D15B2(92'ish hp) 4spd car

Change the ECU on your D15B1(4spd) car to a D15B2 ECU(4spd)car.
***connects the same.

Change the head on your D15B1 to a D15B2 head or just change the cam to a D15B2 cam.
***should go right in.

Remove or modify the throttle body butterfly to open all the way (this cost nothing but time) or change to the D15B2 throttle body.
***mounts the same.

This sounds easy and simplistic....does it not?

Does this mean any D series upgrades or do the MPFI systems cross over to the B series motors as well?

You would need D-Series specific parts for almost the entire thing. I think the only things that don't necessarily need to be D-Series specific are the additional fuel injectors and possibly throttle body depending on which manifold you end up using. Find a write up and follow it, you should be good to go.

You don't need any intake pipes, put a velocity stack over your throttle body then put a cone filter over your velocity stack...

Then do what they ^ said and run a VTEC head... wire the VTEC up to a NOS activation switch.

After you do this I'd run a 3" exhaust because with all that air (intake delete) you're taking in, you need a bigger exhaust to process all of it.

Make sense OP?

o/p, go with mpfi swap and the a6 cam swap, just know you'll either need a y8 cam gear or an adjustable one to counter adjust for the 4* timing difference. i ran a b1 with a stock air box modded with aftermarket piping, a z6 intake manifold, a6 cam, ebay header, si transmission, test pipe and an oversized 2.5" obx-r exhaust, thing was quick! had zero problems hitting rev limiter in 1-3 with my thirteens. but know you'll loose mpg big time with the si parts

wow I have a d15b1 I have put an exhaust and adjusted the valve the right way and adjust the cam to the timing of a d16 y 8 head and have a whole lot more power and was really impressed with the response of the car

Plus plus I am replacing the head going from a d15b1 head to a d16 y7 and I plan for it to be a whole lot quicker with the dp system setup and not only all you guy and mpfi setups yea it cool an all but going to be different then every one else because it’s going to be all motor non VTEC with turbo and will be a monster. Why because the stroke on d15b1 is shorter then the d16 and b series and all these VTEC the advantage I will have is the shorter stroke which will give me a lot more power output with ad16 y7 then what people think. Dp is always dogged on well I am going to utilize that excess fuel to make more power with no VTEC be all motor and be push long about 150 to 200 hps just doing thing here and there which I will not reveal of but will push a lot just on all motor
