Do yourself a big favor, and take a welding course at a local community college. Within 3 classes I was welding better with SMAW (stick) than my buddy could with his mig welder. He was self taught and didn't think he needed any schooling because YouTube has it all.
If you are looking for info, Jody from 'welding tips and tricks' (on YouTube) has a lot of good stuff. He even has a mig video series on how to get started.
Once you learn how to weld though, your car life is going to he so much more fun. It is very nice to be able to build your own exhausts, play with header designs, weld up cool little knickknacks etc.

Well, i'm good friends with the guy who teaches the welding class here at WCC, and his son, so i can have them help me out and give me some advice.
I also have tons of scrap metal laying around to test with before i do anything on the car. so i'll have time to get the machine dialed in as well as figure out what i'm doing
and yea, i've seen some welding tips on youtube, and i'm sure i'll watch a ton more once i get into it

Update!
I'm working on getting the trailing arms shortened and re-welded back together.
Also buying/researching around lower control arms, front and rear.
Any one have some tips on bending up your own roll cage/bars?

UPDATE: I haven't had any time to work on this, being as it's winter in Michigan, and I now have a 2 month old son.
luckily, I own my own business and make my own hours, so I at least have the flexibility of that...

NEW UPDATE:
I just bought a house and it has a 20x24 block garage with 12 foot ceilings. So now I just need to move all of my cars over here, and all of my tools, then I can start working on stuff again.
