Icon2 1990 hatch overflow issue

i have a 1990 honda civic hatch, has the b16a2 motor swap. Has been running fine. then recently it looked like the radiator gave out because it was leaking, which happened shortly after a blown hose underneath the intake manifold. Anyway, i replace the hose, i buy a new radiator, buy a new thermostat. install everything.. and just to test to see what it did. i started the car after adding all coolant with front end lefted slowly. dont think there is any air. ran fine and didnt leak any fluid, only vapor was from the little bit i spilt. after about 30 min idling, i decided t orev it a bit, see what it does, i do not have an overflow tank. jsuta hose running off the overflow valve by the cap down to the ground. but i drove before plenty of times. even down highway and no issues with it at all over heating. temp gauge dont work hoever. so after revving the car, i get out and check the ground, seen maybe a cup of radiator fluid on the ground, so im like ok, maybe just some extra cause i filled pretty good. then get in and do it again and some more comes out, not quite as much much, but dam near. after that i just turned it off and went inside as it was getting dark. i honestly dont know if this is normal for it to drain some out, or if its imparative that i get an overflow tank. but any suggestions on whether or not that would be normal or not. or if there is something that i need to do. Also if anyone knows, my ecu throws a code, right when it turns on its 7 short flashes.. then a pause then 1 long flash. then repeats over and over again. I heard Throttle positioning sensor.. so id new throttle body i guess.. just not sure. let me know anything you got, would greatly appreciate some advice

i believe that a code 71 which is a random missfire and not it not normal to lose coolant through overflow unless you overheat the crap out of your engine sounds like a headgasket might be in the near future.

It's normal for the overflow pipe to spit out small amounts of coolant, it sucks it back in when the car cools down. You need an overflow bottle so that the pipe remains submerged in coolant, otherwise it'll spit coolant out, and will suck in air as the system cools. If you put in an overflow bottle and you find that it's filling/boiling/spilling everywhere, well then that's not normal.

^ Finally someone speaks English in this thread! And for that, I thank you.

Install the overflow, any overflow for that matter (a Mountain Dew bottle if that's all you have lol) and let us know how things are after that. Just take your time posting so it doesn't require me to read your 3 sentences for 30 minutes to decipher what you're typing.
