Is it worth it??
Ok here it goes....
I let my friend drive my car and he crashed it into a tree going about 55mph
Before...
After...
He smashed in the driverside quarter-panel and bent the trailing arm severly. This all happened about 3 months ago and Im really hellbent on fixing it. The only part that worries me is that the bracket that the two 14mm bolts that bolt straight up-and-down to the frame on both sides of the trailing arm bushing is really f'ed up. Since then Ive bolted a spare trailing arm I had lying around to it just to move the car to my backyard. The new trailing arm bolted up nice and straight all accept the two 14mm. The bracket on the frame is smashed upwards a little bit and wont line up. Its sooo close to lining up though. My question: Is it worth it to try to straighten it up and weld a new bracket in its place or will the integrity of the car be jeoperdized?? Im very serious and I would like some serious opinions because this is my first honda and Im somewhat attached to it. Before I even get started I would like to know if its a lost cause or not. As always, THANK YOU!!!

I have seen a lot worse get fixed. Its only sheet metal. If its not straight, rig something up to straighten it. Or take it to a professional frame/body shop. But if you decide to take it to someone you better have deep pockets. Good luck. Sorry about the car.

I'd part it out and sell it. You'd make enough money to get yourself a clean shell. Get a 94 or 95 shell though, the 93's frames are like jello.

I'm sure the impact was not at 55mph because if so your Sol would be split in two and your friend would probably be dead.
I say don't part it out, unless you are patient enough. But have the damage examined by someone who knows body work and get that **** fixed^!

Re: Is it worth it?? (EKstacy)
i would total loss it becuase im lazy. but if you want, stick the bolts in the threads when you begin to weld to prevent them closing up. seriously .
cut part of the fram rail out, via old skool notching, weld in 1/4" sheet, or square tubing/we you want
drill 2 holes, find the appropriate nuts for the bolts tack thm in place,
make sure to bevel the frame. use w/e process you want to weld it, it's just mild steel, stick, mig, tig i would'nt go with GTAW aka tig becuase of thecompexity/time consuming/costs associated of trying to get under that car.
i would use stick just becuase i am the most familar with it and it is second fastest/ deper pentrating than the faster gmaw aka mig
also no need to go out and get gas
either buy a new 1/4 from honda or fix this one yourself. i see 80+ hours of work on that one 1/4 tbh
if you can't weld any process................she's totaled man . @ 100 dollars an hour for a welder (my rate) you will be in over your head. when i am at home i just count my time as free

Re: Is it worth it?? (RS-2)
Hey you said you were going to school for autobody might as well do it your self and get experience. We took all the hail damage out of my budies teg in high school body shop and it was pretty fun. Again if have the time and resources and are not lazy go for it. I would even get an estimate somewhere and have your "friend" pay that price. Thats just me though.

Re: Is it worth it?? (MantiSWhite)
I actually own a stick welder and a MIG welder, so thats no problem. Since starting this thread ive managed to get the body and frame pretty straight with nothing but and slege hammer and some blocks of wood and a scissor jack. Still looks shitty, but at least its straightening up a bit

It was a small tree that just got planted in the median in a new neighborhood. The car slammed into it and we slide up the thing and knocked to whole tree out the ground. lucky we didnt flip
