Re: Why road racers don't respect NASCAR (chainsaw)
i wouldn't want to drive a car 180+mph in the rain.
"Dude. Say, could you back off JUST a little bit? I don't really want to be going 125 miles per hour on a wet track in a car with no rollbar."
I consider it a compliment to my car preparation.

Re: Why road racers don't respect NASCAR (igotsol!)
how did you do against the rustang? what are the rules for the road racing you are doing?
You have an instructor, and the object is to learn the limits of the vehicle and go faster and faster as you learn.
Highly recommended for everyone involved. Well worth it if you car is ANY go (rather than show) at all. This is also where suspension and brake upgrades make engine upgrades look worthless.
The chief instructor summed it up like this - "Just because you have more horsepower doesn't mean the rice rocket behind you isn't going to catch you in the turns".

I envy you. I wish I could do that!

I think there are events at Mid-Ohio for NASA.
Considering that a good intake and exhaust cost well over the cost of one event, wouldn't you rather have two days of ***** out performance in a safe environment (in your own car, mind you)?

My measure of success was a quote from my instructor - to the best of my recollection ...
"Dude. Say, could you back off JUST a little bit? I don't really want to be going 125 miles per hour on a wet track in a car with no rollbar."

Re: Why road racers don't respect NASCAR (shawnhayes)
Sorry shawn...i'm gonna have to **** in your corn flakes...
NASCAR has already developed a wet weather "package" that the teams will use at watkins glen in the event of rain...they just haven't had the opportunity to. The craftsman truck series has though...
http://www.tzenterprises.com/nascar/...ires62599.html
"The first one-hour practice session on the 2.45-mile hilly road course, during which trucks tossed up roostertails of spray, marked the first time Goodyear's all-weather Eagle rain tire has been used in a NASCAR point event and under conditions that historically would have curtailed track activity.
In 1997, the tires were used in practice and qualifying for a NASCAR exhibition race featuring NASCAR Winston Cup Series cars at the Suzuka Circuit in Suzuka City, Japan. After that, the tires and assorted "wet weather" running gear, including taillights, windshield wipers and defrosters were mandated as possibilities for NASCAR Winston Cup Series races. "
Yeah I like Nascar...flame away

I may get flamed but who cares.
NASCAR SUCKS!
bunch of redneck gap-tooths turning left for 3 hours, they dont race in the rain b/c they werent never taught to, as they were never taught to turn right.
You seriously get more enjoyment out of those little radio control cars on the track where all you do is hold down the trigger to make them go.

Re: Why road racers don't respect NASCAR (BauleyCivic)
I agree, NASCAR sucks! The only good part in NASCAR is when people crash and flip and cars explode. Other than that, its a bunch of redneck white guys going in an oval and making left turns for the rest of their life. I know their is skill behind their racing, but I would LOVE to see a NASCAR driver get behind the wheel of a car driven in the JGTC series! They wouldn't know what the hell to do! And by the way, nice rain pics
