when should the gas gauge read "e" ? when im empty and fill up, i can only fill up 9 gallons. so if my tank is 12 gallon cap. my car is saying its empty at 3 gallons left? i thought it was supposed to goto e when you only have 1 gallon left in the tank

Re: (STEALTHMODECOUPE)
I have a 96 dx hatch and I drove 420 miles on my last tank. Just wanted to see how far I could go. Probably could've gotten a little more out of it but didn't want to push it 'past the slash'! That was with no ac for the week and I commute mainly on the highway to work (75-85 mph). And my car is bone stock. It's the most mileage I've ever gotten out of a car and helps me alot because I drive 74 miles a day round trip.

All gauges are like that. Less chance of leaving you stranded without gas. Doesn't matter what car you have. The gauges are designed like that.

Re: (Outrun)
'94 Civic del Sol Si (D16Z6), stock. The blue curve is a smoothed version of the data. I think the gradual decline in fuel economy is from a cracked exhaust manifold, which I'll replace this weekend.
