Non SI MPG
Hey people.
So my padres just got a 07 Civic 5spd 4 door. Its quite a fancy little auto. Anyways, says that on the highway it can get right around 39-40mpg (highway). But knowing my accord, it is rated at like 28 but I get 34mpg; so I was wondering what people have gotten on their civic. I was hoping a little more then 40. On top of that I know people with the honda fit that have gotten like 45 when its rated at 40. Just wondering.
Thank you.

I have an EX sedan (auto) rated at 30 city/40hwy. I average 30-32 mpg with mixed driving. The best mileage I've gotten was when I took a day trip that involved a lot of straight highway with no traffic, and that was still only 34 mpg

You're allowed to use frownie faces when your average MPG is 20 or less. I'm waiting to pickup my 07 EX this Friday. I will be basking in the glory of the 30mpg+ club. So will my wallet.

Haha, I didn't mean that I thought 30 mpg is bad. I can't complain about 30+ mpg and less than $30/tank!
I only because I've heard a lot of non-SIs claim to get 38+ mpg on a regular basis, and I have yet to even come close to that...regardless of how/where I drive.

The guy I work with just bought an EX Auto Coupe 2006, he said he gets about 36 or so mpg, he drives around 60-68 on his way to work (98% highway). I've heard that waiting a bit for the engine to break-in improves fuel economy... once everything 'settles'.

I Live in OKC,Ok.. Today I drove from Houston, Tx to Ardmore, Ok which is 100 miles south of OKC.. This trip segment was 370 miles. I averaged 37 mpg as I drove between 75 and 80 mph. I have 21,000 miles on the car and engine and the mileage gets better every month.

I have an manual ex coupe and one week I was extremely broke and knew I could not put gas in my car til pay day. I drove soooo slow that week or at least I short shifted every gear. It was mixed highway and city driving. I accelorated extremely slow but still got up to about seventy eighty on the highway. I got 38 mpg on that tank and the automatics are supposed to get better mpg than the manual trannys. I don't know how the 4 door comes into play though???

Re: (nm_Civic_DrVr)
Actually its the other way around manuals get better gas mileage because you can shift as low as you want and put in neutral to coast to a stop. Autos require a certain speed/RPM to shift to provide best shift and optimum smoothness and cannot go to idle speed as you coast. Not saying that Automatics don't get good gas mileage, but it depends on the amount of lead in your foot.

Re: (Tadehi)
thats what I always thought about manuals and automatics and still kinda do but acording to honda the automatic civic is supposed to get better gas milage than the manual civic. I still think if I short shift it I can get better than an automatic but not acording to honda or the stickers that come on the car new
