Default whats wrong?

when i start my car up when its cold, my car has this whining/ screeching noise and its really loud... im thinking it might be a belt, but i dont know... now my car is running hot, even after i put in 50/50 antifreeze/ coolant in it... my stepbrother thinks it might be the water pump, and maybe its the belt thats making the noise and thats why my car is overheating? what do you think? oh yeah and i do have a CEL, but i cant figure out what code its throwing

Sounds like a loose belt. I have the same problem at the moment.

What do you mean the paperclip trick didnt work?

What motor you have in there? Need more details. Overheating could be anything from a leak in the system, to air, clogged heater core, or a bad headgasket.

Does your coolent level go down after driving your car for a little while? If so, then its probably a headgasket that needs replacing. My friend had this problem a few months back, over heated and drank coolant like crazy. As soon as he changed the headgasket, he didnt have a single problem with the car.

the first thing you have to do is really find out what code your throwing. it would be a waste of time to start troubleshooting and assuming your headgasket is blown just because your car is overheating.

it could be that your fans not coming on, or your ECT is bad.

if you dont know how to jump the harness, then let someone who knows what theyre doing at least tell you whats wrong with it.

just for the record when your car is throwing a cell. you use the plug under the dash by the ECU and close the loop. then the cell light on your dash will start blinking. long blink=10 short blink=1 add them up and look them up. need a better explanation search for "close loop cel"
