d16z6 question
i want to swap a d16z6 motor to my dx cupe i figure is a nice up grade
but i wont have enough money to buy th ecu for a little while after the motor would it be ok to run my dx ecu for a wile and would the motor be ok and how much do they run for
the other thing is with tranny is better for turbo dx or ex
and is it a stray plug in into my harnness i know i have to cut the vtech wires and run it throug the p28 ecu

Yes you'll be fine running the Z6 with the B7 ECU. Personally I thing the EX tranny is better regardless of whether you boost it or not, and yes the Z6 harness will plug right in.

Re: d16z6 question (d15vtec94)
I recently put a D16z6 in my eg civic 94 and it seems to run pretty dam good to be such a small motor I outrun a 98 SI with it and come close to outruninng a V6 Eclipse in the 1/8 he never pulled away from me though with the eclipse. he outrun me about a fender. but it is a good cheap swap and very simple. I got mine for around $800 which it come with the ECU!!

Re: d16z6 question (BrianHinson)
If your going turbo with the z6 go with the dx tranny, due to its long gears. The z6 tranny is great but too short geared for turbo in my opinion. But right now i got my z6 and it runs like a champ, i got I/H/E and a cam and stage 1 clutch and it feels great.

You opinion couldn't be more wrong. It doesn't matter if your turbo, all motor, supercharged, nitrous, etc... shorter gears are better for going faster... period.
