used timing belt?
I know you're not suppose to re-use timing belts, but I was offered a used TODA timing belt (~3000 miles on it) for 25$ today. being very short on cash and in a hurry to get my engine running, I decided to buy it.
Honestly, should I hold out and get a new oem belt? the one I bought claims much more life than OEM, see the site below (same manufacturer/belt as toda).

well the toda timing belt is awesome, its some 200 percent stronger than an oem belt in that it wont break or wear as easily. but to be on the safe side, i would hold out and spend a little more for a nice new belt. with a used belt you never know what your getting, and it would be better to spend a ltitle now rather than alot later on down the road when your used timing belt jumps or breaks. just food for thought.

no it's an aggressive built, 12:1 pistons, bored .40, lumpy cams, portflow valve springs, acl bearings, act pro lite flywheel, act clutch, '99 si tranny, etc.

well consider it an investment, being that you have all that done to your motor. and besides it's only $80 more than an oem one. atleast around where i live.

i agree. with your motor, its worth the extra money up front. if an oe belt ends up not being strong enough, it would be better not to find out the hard way. you cant go wrong with toda. greddy makes one too.. http://www.inlinefour.com/gredtimbel.html

Re: used timing belt? (ItR_98)
I really do appreciate the help guys.
Last question I have; How much power would you guesstimate my setup is making? I figure a civic type r makes about 197hp so mine should be around 210hp with a good tune?
btw my motor is a B16A

a civic type r makes 185 at the flywheel. an integra type r makes 197 at the flywheel. you should be in the 200 whp range, but there's no way to tell without getting on the dyno. btw what engine management are you running, and is it tuned?

Re: used timing belt? (ItR_98)
i'm using the Hondata stage 2, not tuned yet.. the engine was in a '89 CRX HF before I was rear ended by some idiot. it wasn't tuned and only has 2,000 miles on it. I had serious traction issues..
It's going in a '93 del sol si now

Re: used timing belt? (jdm_vtec)
also I was running with a stock flywheel, stock header and LS transmission in the CRX
the new parts should make up for the added weight on the del sol chassis

sounds similar to my car. 97 jdm itr (11.1:1 compression), skunk2 pro manifold, hondata s200, stage 3 clutch, lightened flywheel, untuned, soon to have skunk2 pro1+ cams and gears, comptech race header and i'm having it tuned when the parts go on and i plan to make over 200 whp. just get someone to throw a mean tune on the dyno for you and you should be good.
and if you're anything like me, you're excited to see some dyno numbers!

yeah i def. wouldnt recommend an autozone timing belt for his kind of setup. i'm not sure of their reliability, but i wouldnt want to find out the hard way.
