transmission removal axles too?
when removing the transmission off of a y7 do you need to take out the axles too? its an ek by the way. I read some places where you do and on here that says its optional. I just want to be sure.

its so much easier to take the axles out before you take the transmission out. they get in the way too much if you leave them in, and its not very hard to take them out. on the driver's side, just pry the axle out of the engine. on the passenger side, pry the axle from the intermediate shaft, and then unbolt the intermediate shaft from the block (3 bolts) and pry it out of the transmission.

I believe you have a few things mixed up there... first off, if it was a B series, you would have to remove the driver's side axle from the half shaft (aka intermediate shaft), not the passenger side axle. The half shaft is on the block, towards the driver's side. The transmission is on the passenger's side. Makes sense right?
Secondly, a y7 is a D series so it has no half shaft. You just have to pry both axles directly out of the transmission.
