Re: teaching how to drive stick
id much rather learn on a stiff clutch than a oem one. i hate driving on oem clutches. i learned on a car with a bad slave cyl and the clutch would keep going dead. it was frusterating yes but alot better for me IMO. everyone is different. just stay patient and dont make it a bigger deal than it is. because its not!

Re: teaching how to drive stick
I really don't believe that some people can't learn to drive a manual car. It's just not hard. My dad just took me to a big hill, I stalled and spun my tires a little. After 15 minutes or so of that, he sent me on my merry way and I think I drive a stick as well as anyone now. Although a stiff clutch is a little tougher, I think you should have some faith in her, I'm sure she can handle it!

I think it depends on how stiff the clutch is and who we're dealing with.
A soft clutch is going to be easy to master for pretty much anyone.
A stiff clutch can be so stiff that the person gets pushed back in their set before the pedal depresses. Definitely not helping the learning process.

Geez all this talk about stiffness... lol
Anyways, sorta off topic but funny story. I remember my mom teaching me how to drive stick, was an 1984 Topaz... I got going the first 2 times ok learching everywhere... Mom told me to stop and practice getting going more and I sat there for 30 mins trying to get it going again, untill my mom got mad and said we were done.... Mom got in drivers seat and realized I had it in 3rd for those 30 mins trying to get it going... yeah... I'm a winner...

if she knows the concept of having to press the clutch everytime you want to switch in and out of gear and if she knows the sequence from first to fifth.. she shud do fine.........
