Suspension for a 1997 Sedan
About a month ago I bought a set of Tokico HP springs and shocks off a friend that were practically brand new. He had them on a project EG hatchback and never actually drove the car with them installed. My friend was unsure if they would fit my car but we managed to install them with minimal hassle. However, now a month later the car sits noticably lower in the back. I know that springs usually take a few weeks to break in, but I have been driving a lot (probably 2,000mi) and still the ride looks funky.
My first question is, are EG and EK suspension components different? Or are Hatchback and Sedan components different?
My second question is if I were to swap them out, should I trade for my friends (much more used) Tokico Illumina's with Skunk 2 sleeve coilovers (off of a 94 coupe). Or buy a set of KYB G2 shocks off of another friends EK coupe for $150 and still trade my springs for the Skunk 2's? Sorry if all this is confusing but These parts won't be available for long...

Don't know much about the issue, but I would think that the springrates for the hatchback are not meant to handle the extra weight in the back, which is present with a sedan. This may be the reason you have a sagging back end on your car.
As for the new suspension options, look around the website, you'll find what people prefer for their sedans.

That being said, do you think that my springs/shocks would be okay on a coupe? (So my friend will trade)

Too many variables to that. You'll just have to see. If they're blown out, you may have to give your friend back his money, or he'll be very mad with you.

Im sure the spring rates for a hatch should be less than those of a sedan, therefore the weight in the rear will make it "sag" while the front rates are most likely the same and will appear normal......... giving you the sloppy stance you see before you.
