srs code?
on my 97 civic the srs light is on. when i check the connector to check the code i get a long blink and a short blink from the srs light. does anyone have a list of srs codes? i need to know what the problem is. i've tried reseting the light but it just comes back on.

Re: srs code? (chameleon)
my horn and cruise control weren't working either, along with the airbags, so my friend suggested i change the srs reel underneath the steering wheel. i did it yesterday, and everything's back to normal. btw i put in the reel out of a 96 accord and everything matched up perfectly.

Re: srs code? (chameleon)
when you put it back in did you reconnect everything? if the srs reel is bad on your car, the horn and cruise control won't work, because it all goes through the reel. if they do work, then it's probably not that. yes, if you take it to the dealer, they'll probably be able to tell you exactly what's wrong with your srs system. of course, they'll probably charge you like a hundred bucks just for that. don't take it there unless you've really ran out of things to spend money on.

To read a DTC code, the bulb will at first come on as a bulb check, then go out for 2 seconds. The next series of flashes will be the DTC code. For a single DTC, you should get two numbers. The first number (main code) will be a 1.2 second flash, the number of times it flashes for 1.2 seconds is the first number of the DTC. The sub-code will be a .3 second flash, which follows 2 seconds after the main code flashes.
So a DTC code of 3-1 would be the bulb check coming on for 6 seconds, going out for 2 seconds, then flash the bulb for 1.2 seconds, with the bulb going out for 1.2 seconds inbetween the three flashes. Then the bulb goes out for 2 seconds and the bulb will flash once for the sub-code.
What you described does not sound like a DTC code was recorded.

when i tried to check the srs code after the bulb check thing it'd blink 1 long blink and 1 short blink. it just kept on repeating that. after i installed the new reel i reset the light and everything's back to normal.

thats the problem i have. 1 long then 1 quick and it keeps repeating. the reel turns really easily and it hgouth it could revolve 360 degrees, i prob didnt align it when i put it back in so i guess i broke it.
btw my friend works at honda so i was getting a hookup on the honda PCM doohicky.

if you know its the reel, then just swap it out for another one. no point of bothering going to the dealer to check it. it'll cost you like 10 bucks at a junkyard for another one. i'm guessing any newer honda one will work because i got mine out of a 96 accord.

by clickers do you mean blinkers? if so, they don't go through the reel. only the airbag, horn, and cruise control buttons go through it. all the other little switches have their own stuff. putting it in isn't all that hard. i just stuck it in, made sure the arrow pointed up, and viola. i forgot to mark the wheel, so i put it on crooked, so now i have to take my airbag out again and straighten the wheel. other than that, everthing's working good on mine.
