Spoon P30 ECU, EracticIdle
I just bought a Genuine Spoon P30 ECU for my B16. Before that I was running a non-chipped P28. The P28 ECU worked fine on the motor, the idling was good and everything and it ran good. Well today I got the Spoon ECU and the guy I got it from told me it was an Automatic Spoon ECU and its throwing a code. Don't kno which code, but now the idle sounds like wooah wooahh idling from 1000-1500 on start up dropping then revving. I have no vacuum leaks and a friend let me borrow a Skunk2 chipped P28. The chipped Skunk2 P28 has my motor running good, no erratic idle or anything. Is there any chance the check engine that the Auto Spoon Ecu is throwing is causing my car to idle funny? The guy I bought the ECU from told me to ground out 2 wires on the ECU and it will cause the check engine light to go away. But my main question is will an auto ECU do anything to the idle versus both P28's i have tried? Thanks for any feedback.

auto ecu on manual car=no no
I know on the d16's autos have a 3 wire Idle Air Control Valve and manuals have a 2 wire IACV and you cannot use a manual ecu for a 3 wire IACV and an auto ecu for a 2 wire IACV, I'v never delt with auto b16's but this probably also holds true.

I would be a bit skeptical of anyone claiming they had an auto Spoon ECU. Spoon doesn't spend time developing automatic cars for a reason.
You will not get an auto ECU to work properly with a manual car without converting the ecu itself. It is fairly straightforward to convert, but does require you to open the ecu up for a very minor adjustment.

Hopefully that should help you a little bit.
