make sure that ur plug has noithing interfering the connection between the vss and the running currant.
if u look at the plug and u see a white plastic peice take that plastic piece out.
or.
take ur vss out and put in ur other cx vss on.

i had the same prob, i did a auto to man swap on my 97dx
i used a z6 tranny, on that tranny came a vss, which was not workin,
i took the vss outta my auto trannt and installed on the z6 and it worked like a champ, has been ever since, no probs either, i dont even have it screwed in.
lol

we've already tried replacing the VSS's on our trannys...its probably the cluster cuz my right turn signal doesn't come on *in the cluster* and one of the center bulb is out too

I have the same thing with the bulb in my cluster. It's the bulb right about where 50/60mph sits. Hopefully I'll be able to find time to take out my cluster and check that tomorrow. Do you have to take the whole dash out to get to the cluster?

no not the whole dash, just the bezel. Be careful not to crack the bezel because it does crack eaisly...just take your time and slowly pull on it...it'll come eventually...

but yeah its the bulb on top of where like 60 mph sits

Well, all the connections in the back of my cluster are tight, I know the VSS is good. It's either got to be a short in the wires or a bad cluster. What would be cheaper, an OEM replacement or one of those ricer clusters?

I want to replace the cluster before I start cutting and replacing any of the wires because I heard the wires have to be an exact length in order to send the proper signal.

you could find riced out clusters prettty cheap on here...probably about the same as the OEM ones...its a matter of preference...but if you had a buddy with the same cluster, you should test it out first so that way you know for sure its the cluster
