... if you have common knowledge of body work there is no reason why that would cost 1500+... its all about finding good deals. i just got my car repainted then got tea bagged by a suburban...
new hood cost me $60... 2 small hail dings... so easy... paint is obviously going to be the most expensive part though

It just so happens the moron who hit this guy happened to be in a Mustang, which is really 100% irrelevant to the topic at hand.

lol i got a buddy who drags nothing but stangs and he <3's honda's too. helped me do all the body work on my car and painted it for me. then he also offered his help if i decided to get some more performance outta my set up so to speak. cool kid, def a good friend. and his stang would probably spank 90% of the civics on here so he's even kinda got the room to be an ******* if he wanted

Easy fix IMHO!
I had a Chevy Tahoe rear-end me at 85mph.
Pushed my trunk to the rear window and broke the subframe - $8000 damage!
Sigh...
That's the problem with driving a CiViC!
If your brother was driving a Ford F250 Super Cab, it probably would have destroyed the Mustang and only scratched the paint on his truck...

can you have your insurence company take it to court and have them "investigate" his breaks? that doesnt sound right to me where someone hits you and you have to pay for it.

yep - Michigan has some wack laws...
I have "yo-fault" insurance myself, but my ride is nowhere near as nice as yours =/
cant beat $40 a month though - the savings alone would pay for that type of damage.

For the OP:
Why isn't the other driver (at fault) paying for the wreck?
How do you know the other driver had "faulty brakes" anyways?

I dont believe that a person can hit you and it be there fault but you have to pay for it. Was does anyone have insurance in that state than WTF? Thats why its called Liability.

i know insurance companies can be difficult sometimes but i would definitely try to pursue your insurance company into having the other kid to pay for it.....

My brother had a 96 Ex where he passed out (medical reason, not drunk), and recovered just in time to rearend a suburban. He was lucky he was cognitive enough to hit the brakes. Looked pretty much how that car looks. He just got a new CF hood (cheaper), new rad support, and new bumper. He decided to swap to the 99-00 frontend, so it wasn't all that bad. Most supports come black anyways, and black bumpers aren't hard to find; his was silver...always hard to match.
Honestly the chassis itself isn't a pile of gold, and all of the parts will swap over. If it was a Precision or Garrett fmic & custom turbo piping that got smashed, I'd see how he'd extremely pissed. Wisconsin's winters are just as bad concerning salt, and very few 96+ bodies have rust yet. Its the pre-96 that have it bad.
As for your state's laws, that sucks *****. Here over the lake we have a minimum 90% rule for rear-end situations. AND they get a ticket for following too close in 9 of 10 cases.
