well as i was told that the smaller piping diameter the turbo will spool quicker, but the wider the diameter the more tope end power you'll get, but dont take my word cus my car isnt turbo i just saw the piping info on here one day

Modify a CTR or an ITR exhaust to fit. 2.36 inches (according to passwordjdm.com) and quiet as stock.

well i would do the ctr or the itr but i already have the Ls rear section...would it kill my power if i used it and would it be noticeable..i know that its not really the size of the piping ,but the restrictiveness of the ls muffler

When you put the turbo on it seems to quiet down the exhaust a bit.

yes, puttin an oem muffler on a turbo setup is going to be pretty ineffecient. the muffler will basicaly be a bottleneck that will slow down the exhaust movement. plus with 1.6 optimal piping size would be 2.5" for turbo setup. if you were going n/a the itr or ctr muffler would be a good choice. your going to have to use a somewhat expensive high flow muffler for the turbo setup to be quiet.

another option would be to use the stock exhaust with a electronic e-cut out.
It will be quiet when you want it to be and loud when you need/want power. But nowhere inbetween.

Oooh, that's a good idea. I forgot all about that option. On a personal note, I had the GReddy kit on my Y8 with both the stock exhaust and with 60mm piping and a straight-through muffler. Honestly, I couldn't not tell that much of a difference in low-end to mid-end power with both exhausts. This was on 5.5 psi, so upping the boost would change the results dramatically, but you said 5-8 psi.

Anyway, so yeah, no difference in mid- and low-end, nor did I notice a difference in spool-up time. However, the top-end was affected slightly. I could tell the engine didn't rev as quickly to redline with the stock exhaust. I'm not sure what kind of loss that would translate to at the dragstrip, though. So there's my input. A stock exhaust with the GReddy kit will hamper top-end at 5.5 psi but spool-up time, low-end power, and mid-end power were pretty much unchanged. My horsepower setup was:

GReddy SOHC kit w/o the blue box
GReddy Type 31 intercooler
AFC hack setup with RC440s
AEM pulley kit

If you are only running 5-8 pounds of boost it would not be too big of a deal using the stock exhaust you mentioned. Anything more, and you will definitely need more flow. The turbo will definitely quiet down the exhaust compared to n/a. I ran my 2.2 turbo off of the downpipe and it was quieter than my 1.8 n/a with a really straight pipe and straight through muffler.

If you don't like the volume of the exhaust as it is right now, you probably still won't like it when you go turbo. When I was all-motor, my A'PEXi N1 was loud as ****. When I got the turbo on, I was expecting it to be super quiet because everyone told me, "Oh yeah, with the turbo it'll really quiet things down." Well, the volume did go down, but the exhaust was still freaking loud! On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being maximum loud, I'd say my N1 while all-motor was a 10 and the N1 while turbo was like an 8.75 or maybe an 8.5. Even when I switched to an oval muffler, it was still loud, and it had significantly more packing than my N1; it just sounded deeper than the N1. So good luck with things!

i had a custom 2.5 inch no chat exhaust, all motor SO Loud

Added turbo kit, not as bad, and high flow cat

i would add a few resinators it will be fine

go with a dunk style exhaust, those are not that bad.

A few resonators? What are you saying, dont use any piping and just weld resonators together? LOL...just try ONE decent size resonator.

Run a stock exhaust with a lever controlled Y-pipe after the downpipe. That will give you the silence you want and the power when you want it at the flick of a switch. Ask anyone (any real racer ) who knows anything about turbo's...best exhaust for a turbo car is no exhaust.

Mr. Gasket makes one... Part number MRG-5424 from the new Summit Big Book. 46.88+ shipping. I know someone around me has a new Evo with one of these on it and loves it. Good luck
