Replacing oil pan gasket when doing timing belt replacement?
I found my oil pan gasket is leaking oil and since I am going to do a timing belt installation with a friend pretty soon, would it be easier to do both oil pan gasket and timing belt job at the same time?

Also check the oil pump for leaks while the oil pan and lower timing belt cover are off.
If the pump is leaking, buy an O-ring, gasket for oil screen, and small tube of HondaBond.

The Crank pulley has to come off to do the oil pan. This is the only part common between both jobs.
The hardest part of the oil pan gasket change will be dropping the downpipe if you have the stock exhaust manifold. The nuts holding the lower half to the upper half are BS. Use a propane torch (~$25 at Walmart) to heat the "F" out of them and they should swell enough to turn. Usually it takes about 3 attempts each with the torch cause they cool off pretty quick and seize right back up when you put your ratchet on them.

Hmmmm....I guess not. I mostly remember swearing at those downpipe-to-manifold nuts.
If that's the case, then they are two completely separate jobs. No reason it's a "must" to do them both at the same time.

didn't recall ever having to remove the crank just to rmove an oil pan gasket. Not for any honda engine I've worked on.
