Replacing CV boot.
Broke my CV boot while changing, axel seal. Not sure how to get the knuckle off.
Broke boot while changing axel seal, been staring at this for a while, no clue how to take it off so I can put in smaller side of boot. Help much needed.

There is a specific kind of snap ring pliers you need to get the snap ring off. After that's done give it a few small taps with the hammer and the knuckle should slide off. That's how I replaced my old worn out boots when I rebuilt my axles.

I have used ordinary tools for snap rings. The last one I remember was, I think, for the hub bearing unit. Anyway, here is a good video of a guy demonstrating DIY tool options. The spec tool would be better, but if you are stuck or cheap... here ya go:
