Question about changing brake pads.
My brake pads still have a bit of meat on them, not even close to metal on metal. Anyways, if I were to change my brake pads before they were considered to be worn to assure that my rotors wouldn't be damaged, would I still need to get my rotors resurfaced?
Also, when ordering brake pads off of hondapartsdeals.com, do I need to get the pads and the shims? Anything else I need to get?
https://www.hondapartsdeals.co...B++22
Would I only need part 6 and 12 on that site?
TIA.

Re: (Jimmy)
I was going to stick with oem because I like how soft they feel, and how quiet they are. However, opinions on other pads are appreciated--even though that is not what this thread was created for. Just keep in mind, this is a completely stock civic that is my daily driver. I do not use my car for performance at all.
Also, I hear that getting rotors resurfaced can make them too thin, and in return create problems. Is there any validity to this statement?

they must be within machining specs before cutting them....If they are too thin to be cut and you still cut them...then yes you will have problems...but if not...you will be perfectly o-k....and make sure its someone reliable cutting them...I've seen to many hack jobs at work to trust just anybody

If it is daily driven then use the oem pads.
If they are not within spec, no one will resurface the rotors due to safety issues.. and like you said being to thin.

Re: (spray_bombed)
Alright, to my knowledge they have never been resurfaced before. Also, the brake pads were always changed before there was any damage to the rotors. Would I be alright if I didn't resurface them?

I wouldn't recommend doing it.. It could eventually effect the life of the pads and feel of the brake pedal.
It's only 6-8 dollars each to have rotors resurfaced.. why not go ahead and do it?

Alright, I will def. just get them resurfaced then.
Also, I used to sell Wagner Thermoquiets, and I have heard nothing but good things. They now have Wagner Edge which are supposed to be even better quality.
I am wondering if the brake pads on the link provided include the shims..

The only way they would become to thin is if they where out of spec to begin with a good shop will be able to tell you if that is the case. Since you don't do any hard braking/ racing you shouldn't have any problems
