When it gets cold anytime my pass door lock always always freezes up and doeesn't unlock with the power door locks, manually it doesn't unlock eitherit's like it's stuck. I've tried every remedy including dosing it with wd-40 directly in the key hole and nothing. Seems like a rod is freezing up in the door. Driver's door is no problem.

The temperature it seems to give problems at is around -8c or 18f. Any experience with this? Any remidies?

my door locks freeze around 25 and my door has actually frozen shut...i would just smack it a couple times or get a remote start and let the car warm up

get the lock de-icer or something like that. You put it right in the keyhole and put it around every seal around every door and window. Do it once and you'll be ALL set

Not that you asked, but I also put a light coat of vaseline on my door seals, to keep the rubber from freezing to the jam.

LOL i've used that stuff, alot and trust it doesn't work, i'd even put a lighter to my key and nuthin. It's all in the locking mechanism, i know it's not frozen by the seals, the door will open it's the lock that is not moving.

I used to spray WD-40 in my keyhole and that would prevent it from freezing up.

Are you sure that its even a frozen cylinder issue?
It could be coincidental that it happens when its got cold. Temps in Ontario and Michigan are about the same, so I know what its like.

De-icer always works for me, as does wd40, as a prentative...
(A heated key will never work, its wont maintain the temperature long enough to do anything......)
It wont be the rods either - they dont touch anything, in the panel.

Have you ever paid attention to where the wind comes from, where you park, when its outside?
Perhaps youre getting excess moisture in the lock, which would need to sit for a long time, then wd40 to repel it later.

The de-icer isnt "instant"...it takes a few squirts and some time + key wiggling.

the ol' sword n the stone trick works for me when this happens..push the key and turn in the wrong way..then turn in the right way and bang youll be fine

diggitydog i understand about the seals, i also lubricate them with clear silicone grease and it helps with freezing rain door-seal freezing.

I actually did try turning the key instead of using my alarm remote and it's stuck so bad that i'll break the key if i turn harder. If i had a remote starter it would help, because afterlike 10mins of interior heat the door lock begins to move freely.

The de-icer never worked for me even after 10 mins. I try to use wd-40 in my locks everytime i wash the car, i'll spray it until it leaks out.
