sounds like you may have a ristriction in your condensor causing excesive high side
pressure. all the extra heat from that is then pushed through the radiator causing the overheaing.

My radiator is 240,000 miles old, I have a water pump and timing belt kit that I need to put in it as well, but I just want some opinions on why this is happening?! radiator clogged? water pump going out?! it is not the headgasket i don't think because my car runs normally, no smoke from exhaust and no milky oil/coolant. Car is a 1997 Civic LX. D16y7 Only mods to engine is a CAI. Also If I'm running the A/C while driving at freeway speeds, the car doesn't start to get hot until I slow down to street driving or idle. What's the deal?!
hey I don't have any answers but i am going tbrough this exact same problem in my 1995 honda civic LX. Ive even paid to send the head gasket out to a machine shop and have it filed down so i know the head is good.. also my car only has 107k miles on it. im starting to think maybe those mile are inaccurate bc im getting same issue most handas get around 250k milkes.but anyways did yoy find the fox? can you offer me any advice? i know my Radiator fan switch is bad but i used the paper clip trick and it still over heats only when i move the air temp conytol from hot air to cold air, thats literally all i do, i even leave the a/c button pressed and if i just adjust it to cold air.. boom, overheating. shift it back to hot air and then the heating subsides but just like yours utll tryto run hot until i park it a while, pop the hood and then she'll run normal but soon as i try to get a little cold breeze, she over heats and gets ahry until i let her rest a while.
