Default Octane for JDM Engines

Well i've read that jap spec motors have a slightly higher compression so using higher octane fuel will benfit in more power , and in japan they run higher octane fuels anyway so why not run this octane rating here , i run 93 octane fuel and lets say they run 98 octane my timing been retarded by ecu [ will this improve power or its worthless
heres a web site what i found to be true kinda , i didn't do it yet just waiting for opinions
http://www.gnttype.org/techarea/misc...explained.html

and before anyone says that i don't need higher octane bla bla use 87 really don't know what in the world they are talking about ...
any input on that...

You'll be fine running 93 octane. You can pretty much use 93 octance up to like 13:1 c/r or so with tuning. Your sig says JDM B16, which is what 10.4:1 c/r? You should be perfectly fine running 93 octane and could advance you timing some if you like. If you start to get detonation just retard the timing like you mentioned.

Yeah, I run 93 octane on my B16 with about 17 degrees advance with no problems. I could probably go up to 18-19 without and problems, but things are fine as they are
