Nut inside frame member broke off now spins free??????
So the right front transmission mount that bolts to the frame with 2 bolts. Turned those and they broke free pretty good but then it was really hard to turn them. Got about 4-5 complete turns after breaking free but had to crank on it. Then they both popped and now they spin freely and they're about 1/4" loose but they wont come out of the frame. What's the deal and how do I fix this? It seems like there's welded nuts or something inside the frame and those broke free, so now there's nothing holding the other side stationary as I rotate the head of the bolt. And they won't tighten back up either.

So I ended up drilling holes through the top of the frame tube and using 5" threaded rod all the way through the frame. Easier that way. Had to move the A/C line bracket a little bit but it was much easier than the alternatives. Second option I looked at was using rivet nuts and probably would have tried that before going crazy with the plasma cutter. Learned that when a corroded captive nut is binding, do 1/2 turn or so in the other direction to break the corrosion thats getting dragged through the threads (kind of like when tapping a hole).
