How was the engine installed/who did it?
I agree with the guy above, Ls/vtec's are great if done correctly. They are a ticking time bomb and a nightmare if not.
My friend's cousin didn't get 5k out of his before it threw a rod.
Ask questions, how was the wiring down, what harness was used, what ecu is being used?
Make sure the check engine light works.
What trans is being used? Is it hydro or cable clutch
Where did the engine come from, vin tags.
Asking questions is the easiet way to catch someone lieing.
Personaly I would be very iffy and very very carefull.
I've seen deals like this go very bad, and cost good friends of mine TONS of money.

The engine is rebuilt ported head shaved and balanced crank. Body work was do for some dings and surface rust. No real bad rust on the car at all. Its a rebuilt ls b18b and the body has 171k and the only thing wrong is the distributor and o2 sensor. Other then that everythings good on it. Need the money to register other car and dont really have a place for this car
This is all stuff the the owner of the car said to me when I asked them questions

The swap was done by the owner with a friend. Harness and ecu came from the engine donor car. Stage 2 clutch with an fl2 (idk wut that is). Check engine light is on due to o2 sensor and engine misfire

Also if the owner stated that the engine harness came from the donor car which should be a 93 integra then he is bullshitting you because Integra harnesses don't work for 96-00 civics. You can only use 96-00 civic engine harnesses and they are not interchangeable like the integras and the 92-95 civics

this is too sketch ...... find a better sedan ... ^^^ so many opinions. i say look for a better sedan or choose another car. if he brought the price down to 600 there is alot more wrong with it. its not worth it.

Sounds like you're pretty stuck on getting this no matter what anyone says so go for it. If it turns out to be a POS lesson learned. Hope you have the budget to do any and all possible repairs this thing needs.

With the info you have given, id walk, no make that run away.
IF, you can get for 600 do it.
Ask her these questions and then post when you get the answer.
Cable or hydro clutch.
Recips for work done.
How did they do the harness.
Also, ask if you can pull the cel's to be sure.

Don't get us wrong.. This could be a good deal however, you need more experience in order to determine this. There isn't even a picture or anything about this car so it leads us to believe its a lemon. But if I was able to go and have a look at it first hand, then I will know for sure whether its a deal or not

if you really think this is a really good deal .. just bring someone experienced with you. if you cant find someone... safer bet would be to back away... the car sounds sketchy

Yes I mean figuring out what CEL's there are.
The only way I would even consider this car is beable to check the codes first hand. If they say no, walk away. They are hiding something.
It is very easy for us to say it's crap. You haven't exactly given us much to go on.
Get some pic's post them.
If you really wan't it, ask if you can have a mechanic check it out. Or find some one that knows what they are doing.
Don't jump on the first car you find with a swap, and start dumping money into making it fast. Your 17, you get your self into trouble. When you get to my age, or older you will look back and and regrett it. My friend is 22, and can bearly afford his insurance becuase of the stupid things he did with a fast car in high school.
Take you time.
