Loud thumping while reversing
Just recently my Civic has started "thumping" very loudly and violently whenever I give it any gas while reversing. The sound reminds me of the way my exhaust sounded when it was installed wrong (was hitting the body in the rear). The sound only exists when I'm accelerating backwards, not when I'm rolling backwards or accelerating forwards what so ever.
Apart from a rear brake job about a month before the thumping, nothing has been really changed/done on the car recently that might have caused this. The only thing I could think of would be a bad rear motor mount, but I honestly have no clue what the problem might be. I tried to check the mount but I couldn't get a good look. This wasn't a gradual problem either, it just started happening outta no where.
Anyone have any clue what the problem might be? It feels like my car is gonna shake itself apart when I reverse.
I suppose some info on the car would help too, heh. '93 Civic Si hatchback, D16Z6 with I/H/E, lowered on Form and Function coilovers.

Re: Loud thumping while reversing
What should I check? The problem is only in reverse so would it be the tranny or something?
