Default Losing oil, can't find where

94 Del Sol Vtec B16A2 100k miles, header/exhaust, intake. About 3-4 weeks ago my oil light came on. No oil showing on stick. I had just purchased the car recently, so unsure of last change. I changed the oil and was good to go. Today on the way home the oil light came on again. No oil showing on the stick again.

There is no oil in my drive way or my parking spot at work. I haven't seen one puff of smoke and the car has a straight through cat/straight through muffler so if it was burning that bad I know I would have seen it.

Any ideas? Not sure it matters, but I drive this car 140 miles a day with about 2hrs of 60-80mph high way speed.

Check the oil level every day until the issued is solved.

Is there ANY wet oil on the exterior of the engine?

Just to make sure, take your plugs out and see if there is any oil on them

Is there oil inside the distributor?

Is the engine exterior clean?

Haven't checked inside distributor yet. Got too dark to do much searching.

The engine exterior from what I could inspect from the top looking down is nice and clean minus the leak you see there. None from the cam seal or vtec solenoid either. I will be able to check the bottom out tomorrow, but assumed it will be clean also since I haven't seen any on the ground. There is also no oil in the coolant.

Could there be a leak that is only leaking while driving which would be why I haven't seen any on the ground?

if your rings are bad you may be losing more oil than you think. but it does seem like its losing it too fast for that even. maybe compression test?

I've had rings start going out on me before and it was very noticeable. The engine wasn't as peppy and it started with a tiny puff of smoke when going from a dead stop. Then more smoke. Then smoke when heavy acceleration. Still at that point it was maybe 1-1.5 quarts per oil change.

This has a straight through exhaust. Burning 3 quarts of oil in that span of time would have been noticeable I would assume. Plugs will be checked today and will be getting car up in the air. Called into work to do it, well that and I got up late and tired as hell, but we'll say it was the other.

Plugs checked. Didn't really notice any oil on them or build up. Glad I checked them though, def need to be changed.

have you tried cleaning off the whole underside of the engine and then driving it for a bit to see any fersh leaks? if not then that would be my next suggestion

I think you have pissed someone off and they are draining your oil in the middle of the night.

PCV valve? I know when I got my last b16a it didnt have a PCV valve and smoked at high RPM. No PCV valve at all and the engine was just eating it. Changed the PCV and everything is back to normal. You can check the hose for the PCV that goes into your intake and see if its dripping oil thats the best indicator that too much oil is being drawn through.

Not yet. I can't do it on the days I work and go figure on my off day it rains.

It has a PCV I can see it in between the runners. I guess I could change it since it's dirt cheap.

Thats pretty freaking dirty. its coming out of atleast 1 place higher up. somewhere that only gets oil when the engine is running. thats why u dont see drips on the ground cause its coming out and the wind is blowing it back, and alittle will go all over. the amount u drive is the reason its going so fast. clean it off then check and see if u can see where all its coming from. if u cant see it, u can get infered dye that will show up with an infered light (u can buy the dye and light at autozone)

That's exactly what I was thinking. When I ran my hand up around some of it it came off in a thick layer on my hand. It would have to be in a PITA spot to see. I'm guessing its from the oil sensor, PCV canister, or the line that runs from the canister to the IM.

I'm probably just going to have to wait till next week when I'm off again and clean it really good. Then poor in some UV dye. It's only $8 and will save all the headache and guessing.

valve stem seals are notorious for leaking oil past. During the day, take someone for a drive and have them watch for blue smoke.

just had same problem with my Si hb from 92' this day.

was changing oil, and went under car to unscrew oilbolt.. idiot before me had overturnet it, so it was not tight at all, rly props getting it out.. oil was not dripping, but bolt was greasy and further back under the car were fresh oil stains. my thoughts where when oilpressure builds up under driving the bolt could not hold it in.. i dunno.

feeling with you! hope you find answers.
