i over heat when in idle
I have a 95 dx coupe and it runs fine untill i stop driving. When i sit in idle the check engine light comes on and i start to over heat. When i start to drive again the temperature comes back down but the engine light stays on. It feels like it is running fine untill it heats up. Why might this be happening?

I had that problem happen to me a while ago and it turned out to be the engine coolant temp(ECT) sensor. But I checked and replaced the thermostat in the process just to be safe.

Re: i over heat when in idle (CantGetRich)
FAN IS NOT WORKING !
use test light and see if your getting power to the motor on the switch side and on the motor side ... if no on the motor side you need a motor if no on the switch side you need a cooling fan motor relay or poss. a coolant temp sensor !!!!!!!!!!
