how to tell if d15b is jdm or not?
my friend just got a eg with a sohc "d15b" with s20 transmission, car isnt running so we dont know if it is the jdm d15b or some usdm vx(i think) motor. it has a black valve cover.
is there anyway to find out which motor it is?

Re: (rlstabber-eg)
all it says on the block is d15b, hopefully tomorrow I can verify that the head is a p08, thanks guys!
buddy is putting a gsr in there, and maybe I get lucky and can get the d15b(if its the jdm 130ps one) for a good price.

Not always true. My buddy has had 2 D15B's that were USDM. Still has 1 of them.

open the valve cover and look at the valve train if its a VTEC-E or VTEC.
That still wont tell you if its JDM or not it will just tell you that it has a VTEC head and not VTEC-E.

If it doesn't have a number after the d15b then it's JDM! Look and see if there's a VTEC solenoid on the back, left side of the head.

could just mean that it has a vtec head on it.

i said vtec not vtec-e . Also it could have a head swap, but if the block sais d15b and has a vtec head then I would probably assume it is a full jdm d15b.

Why do people keep replying when my info was 100% correct in the first place? No one has said anything about the head...if he gets a D15B block with a P07 VX head on then you all will have been wrong
