i got yea, now i get your point. For some odd reason i didn't think about paying for it and not being able to use it. Yea, i'm dropping some serious money into this car and i finally decided to just save and pay it all by cash. I just hope i don't break anything, because i'm all ready living off of ramon noddles.

oh yea, i think i'll make it, it's just a blower droping about 15 and trying to explain to your fiance not to worry about anything. Still need to do a roll cage and and complete suspension, it's just sickening to think about the money. I need a strictly project car.

Im still paying for my car. My payments are $243. I still have 4 years left. As far as mods go, I really dont have any other bills to pay so i just either save up for a mod or buy small things here and there. Im getting my swap with scholarship/financial aid refund money.

im still paying off my car, but i have another theft recovery hatch in my side yard (or my parents side yard) its my project. i try to save money through out the year and work as much as i can too. i use my tax return money for my car, and i have my work take out more money then i need to out of each check so i kind of use that as a savings account.

Smart man...all cash for car and mods is the way to go. I'm done with credit.
thats soemthing i dont understand. how someone can put big mod investments on credit. (i.e. turbo). you are in a bowl of **** when something goes wrong.
car that dont run and still paying for it =

I always try and put more then half cash and the rest credit. . .somehow I always seem to pay off the balance before I pay a cent in interest!
Who has never paid a dime in interest, and has done about $5000 in credit transactions.

Re: how many of you are still paying for your car? (dirtySOHC's)
I just bought my car, (first race worthy import) Its no brand new, but in my opinion better, its a "92" civic HB B16A 2nd gen with a Turbonetics T3/T4 hybrid setup conservatively pushing 7lbs, (til I get the AEM, then 12psi) and while it was a deffinite plus to buy a car thats already worked, it sucks in that I took out a loan at %21.9 interest, due to the age, but the car kicks AZZ!! so I will be paying this one off for a while, but I still manage to have $ to put into the car too!!! great site, plan to be spending much time here...

Parents co-signed for me in 96 for the EJ brand new, and I paid it off in 99. I kept paying a lil extra every month on my monthly and at the same time saved a lil money. I would price all the mods that I wanted and save up for them. I usually spent about $1000-$1500 at a time, but once I spent that disposable income, I would have to wait another 6 months to a year untill I could do some more upgrades.

Used the banks money to buy my '00 Type-R... Paid them $480/mo which included a little interest for them. Took the $7K that would have otherwise gone toward buying the car and invested it and made $5K in less than a year off it. Hmm let's see, use my own money to buy a car and have nothing to show for it but the car... or use somebody ELSE's money to buy the car and invest my own money to the tune of 70% returns? Gee, tough choice.
Too bad the car got stolen though Bought my '98 Civic cash though. Probably not one of my brighter moves. Oh well, live and learn.

Got about $3800 on my 99 Civic. Credit is a serious thing, some people get crazy and charge $10,000 in a matter of months.

Re: how many of you are still paying for your car? (HXMan)
**** I have 2 cars (Winter and Work, Pleasure) 1997 Galant ES and 1999 Civic Si... bought the Civic last march.... my payments are 478$ and my insurance is 158$ (Thats both together) 18k car loan (6% interest-I am 20 years old). Better to make payments because you will establish credit, just buy your mods with cash(or better yet with Credit Cards then put the money aside and pay them off by doubling or tripling your cc payments-remember you already have the money fpr them on the side) Then basically you established yourself 2 fold.... CC doubled their limits, establishing credit history, and your car loans will help you get more car loans and mortgages for that new house you want when you are 25-30.... Paying cash does and does not have its advantages when it comes to cars. Make a payment, it will be well worth it in the long run, just dont blow the money in the mean time. BTW I have 2 1/2 years left on my loan... I add 200 to my car payment each month, thus making 3 payments every 2 months, paying the car off in 1/3 less the time)
