that's pretty awesome. so i guess it turns out that he's a pretty smart guy

No i did all that to the car but no suspension, then did the dumb thing speed down backroads in georgia in the middle of the night, and swerving deer in turns at 90 MPH is not what a heavy car on stock comfortable suspension is good at, so i totalled it. I have respect for honda.. but CIVICs are not fast cars, period, and an S2000 is way too over priced for what it is.. you're only paying for the name HONDA and very nice suspension.. could go with the RX8 then too.
I'm having a blast in the civic right now, shifting around 2.5-2K and getting ~33MPG. But thats what they're made for, im tired if people thinking getting a civic putting $1000 into it in body kits spoilers and rims make it a FAST car because it looks like it should be going 300MPH...

Re: (redef90si)
well the only way your going to get anywhere near 300 is by a supercharger or turbocharger...but it cost money to play with the big boys money that you say you dont have so my suggestion would be to sell the civic and buy a V8 or get a higher paying job

if he pieces together a turbo kit.. $2500 is around what ive calculated, and those aren't good deals, you could stumble on quite a few deals on here or other places... then another $1000 for dyno time, get it tuned right.... so we'll say $3500 or less (most likely could be done for less) to turbo and tune, and you might not be quite at 300HP, but i guarantee you'd be satisfied for a while with what you'll have (tuned properly of course you could be looking at around 230 WHP).
@redef90si. Ive driven both and like the feel of the RX8 better, but since almost anything on a mazda nowaday is by ford.. i'd pick the s2k if i was presented with a choice...

i think the turbo kit would run a lil less then that... unless your going with all new after market stuff. but a grand on the dyno... im sure it wouldnt cost nearly that. there are plenty of people on here that can street tune to get a good base down. then take it to the dyno to get it perfect
turbo would be the cheapest most effective way to get horse power out of your engine. like 99greenex said there are deals to be had on here. once your past trial stage hit up the marketplace and check the locals... if you keep your eyes open im sure you'll find a deal. i could of bought a complete turbo kit for a single cam for 400 a few years back. everything was in perfect shape too. just keep your eyes open

have you driven an rx8? i have driven both, considering i have an rx8 you can see what i choose. i liked the s2k better. felt lighter and was nice. unfortunatly it is too small inside (for my big self) which is in direct relation to the weight. also the rx8 has four seats and a roof. i have run the rx8 with a turboed s2k but only in turns. on straights oddly enough that cute blonde was wrecking me. this was around town.
a turbo kit for a d-series is not gonna run you that amount of money 99greenex. people all day are selling them on this forum for better then 2500. hell, he could buy the entire engine with the turbo installed on this forum. seen people selling them. they can be very reliable blocks that hold a lot of power. he will be satisfied with that for a while but if he ever wants more he is going to have to put in a dohc motor effectively wasting his entire investment in his sohc motor. save your money, buy a new air filter for your stock intake, take out unnecessary parts. when you have enough saved decide what kind of motor you want.
if you are positive that you want to keep the d-series regardless and you KNOW you will be quite happy with power, get a turbo and boost it how you wish. for a little bump in power use low boost and enjoy. higher boost will require a lot done to the motor to keep it reliable. please search and read everything you can about the turbo or nitrous or anything you want to do. after your done reading and tired, sleep, then wake up and read more. d-series.org is a great resource also on these engines.
hope this helps.

Piecing together on here, cheaper $2500 yes, I'm going off the far end buying new turbo, new wastdegate, new intercooler.
(I wouldn't buy any of that used unless i knew the person personally who baught it originally.)
As for the rest.. manifold, oil lines, piping, those can be picked up at a steal...
Dyno time.. I spent $600 on the dyno, since almost everything on my car was electronic, we played with just about anything that could be changed... they also measued everything with the scanners, expensive, but well worth it.

Re: (99GreenEX)
I would just go with an Ls swap they're a dime a dozen and easy to find at a good price, they preform well stock. Then do a simple I/H/E and you'll make nice power beleive me my home boy has a 95 Teg with a stock b18b and it does fine it's not the quickest but it does good.
