Help I failed emissions!
Ok, so I have an EG hatch with a minime (z6 head/y7 block) I've been to the stupid emissions place 3 times now. I bought the car from someone who let it sit for a couple months. This is what I've done:
Changed:
-plugs
-plug wires
-cap and rotor
-ran a fuel/injector cleaner
-I have a cat
Now i've changed all these in the course of my 3 journeys to the emissions place. And it's still reading that I have higher then normal Hydro Carbon emissions at idle.
-idle limit (220)
-idle emissions (339)
The only thing I haven't done is change the oil. Now please tell me that changing my oil will help me pass. Thanks.
-Shonn

Dude, if not too hard please do post your smog test result. those number you stated above ain't helping too much
I can help and tell you how to lower your shitty # down,
1. Go to Autozone buy an Seafoam bottle, put 1/2 into your tank, 1/2 straigth into your Intake manifold, for detail instruction on how to use it ready this threat https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1502112 (make sure the engine is warm and hot before you want to use it.
2. Retarded your timing all the way, it helps sometimes. If you dont know how to do it...do a search.
3. After you followed the step 1 above, do another oil change but keep the filter. Don't worry about the 1/2 of seafoam been added to the gas tank.
4. During the smog test, if possible turn on your heater ALL the way, some tester won't let you do this, some don't care, if they do care just turn it on but don't let them know.
5. Good luck.
