HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have a civic si 00 supercharged. As I was cleaning my car inside and out... somehow, my SAFC settings were messed up. All of a sudden, my check engine light came on, and my engine shut up. What should I do. I was told to not to mess with SAFC if you dont know what you are doing.

Re: HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (coookiie)
unplug the neg terminal on your battery for 10 minutes...or pull the ECU fuse. either one will reset the computer...you have to do this to clear the code.

Re: HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (DragIIcivic)
Ok.. so lets say I reset the ecu, check engine light doesnt come back on, does that means things are ok. Beucase the tech that worked on my car didnt touch any settings on the SAFC except for the fuel control beuacse of light detonation. The fuel control regular is back at 0 now, but i can change that.
thanks for allllllllll your help... this site is really usuful.

if it doesn't come back on your probably fine. however...if you were detonating...you need to get it re calibrated asap...and don't do any racing till you do.

Re: HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (coookiie)
Let's get the code first...
Take off the passenger side kick panel and look above your ECU (metal looking case). Locate the GREEN rubber housing with a BLUE connector (looks like the end of a telephone cord connector). Get a piece of wire, paperclip, etc and bridge both connections. Now turn your key just before you have to start the car, watch your CEL and get the code. If the CEL blinks fast, that stands for 1, 2, 3, etc. If it is a looooong blink, that stands for 10, 20, etc. The code will recycle, just in case you don't get it the first time. Remember this, there could be multiple codes. Get the code and tell us what it is.
Reset the CEL
Disconnect the negative terminal on the battery for about 15-20 seconds. Make sure you remember your radio code, if you still have the factory radio.

Re: HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (coookiie)
dose'nt that means there's no more bad codes? since he rested his serttings there should'nt be any more codes being thrown at the ecu?

Re: HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (17secondcivic)
I remember back in the day...when my car was in the body shop and knew absolutely nothing about cars. I picked up the car and the engine light was on. They told me that I would have to reset the ECU but they didn't have the means to do so. They said I'd have to go to honda...make a damn appointment..and have em do it for me. Needless to say, i did that...but was I pissed when i learned how easy it really is to reset that damn thing!

Re: HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (coookiie)
Drag, why would he have an OBDI ECU on his 2000 Si?
Coookiie, go have it checked out at your dealership and see what they say.
