grinding noise from front end
ok, here's the problem w/ my EK...It started off as a clunking noise every time I would accelerate so I checked out the situation and noticed that my shift linkage had quite a bit of play due to a worn out bushing on the tranny side. So I replaced this bushing but now have a grinding noise when I am coasting. it sounds like something is dragging under the car while nothing appears to be dragging. FYI, I have checked out my front end and everything was in tiptop shape so I am totally baffled as to what the problem could be. I am running a y7 engine w/ z6 tranny in a 96 civic hb. The car still drives fine...it just sounds like ****!
FYI, the clunk was when I 1st started accellerating and when I would start accelerating from coasting. Now the grinding noise happens when I am coasting at a constant speed. Once I accelerate, the noise goes away.

Re: grinding noise from front end (specificcivic)
Some searching suggested it could be a loose exhaust heat shield somewhere...
