Default Evap Hook up needed w/ B18C

I need a little help on figuring out how to hook up the Evap on my 97 spec B18C swap.

My current setup is a B18C with a P93 ECU.

My old motor was a SOHC D15Y5 P2N ECU

The B18 EVAP configuration is a little different than the one on the original motor. The canister only has two ports on the top. One went to the tank and the other went to the purge solenoid and then to the front of the intake manifold. Well now on the B18C intake Manifold I need to figure out where to hook up the canister ports. The thing is that the B18 is has two connection ports on it, One is next to the MAP sensor and the other is on the back of the Intake manifold. I know that the one on the back usually goes to the purge valve and then carries on to the third port on the Canister (the one I don't have). Where does the one next to the MAP sensor go and do I need to change the canister to the one with the three ports and add the three way valve?

If I understand you right then what you're saying is that you have an OBD1 B18C in an OBD2 car. What you need to do then is get an OBD1 charcoal canister that has the extra port that goes to your throttle body. They're the same configuration on any 92-95 Civic, 92-95 Integra (yes, those years are right), and many other OBD1 Hondas and Acuras if not all. The only difference between the Civic and Integra canisters is that the Integra canister is larger, but it still slides right into the Civic mount.

Not entirely, my current set up is an OBD2a; it’s a JDM B18C with a P73-003 ECU, but the canister I have is from the original 96 civic SOHC.

I follow what you’re saying about changing out the canister to the one with the three ports but to do that I’ll also have to add a three way valve and change out the purge valve to match wont I? My harness doesn’t have the wiring for the three way so I’m sure I’ll have to do that too.

I have a 99 Honda Civic EX (OBD2B) w/ a JDM B18C motor running a P72 OBD1 ecu. I just used the stock EVAP purge solenoid and hooked that up to the canister. Since the JDM intake manifold does not have the extra port for the EVAP purge because Japan doesn't use it as an emissions device, I had to cut and t-off the brake booster line. I then have the other end of the evap purge hooked up to the T. The P72 OBD1 ecu doesn't even look for the evap purge at all so I get no CELs.

I'm assuming you are doing this to try to pass emissions?

Yeah I need a new sticker so I was going to give it a shot but I want to be sure that it'll pass. I was able to find a link in the site that had some pictures of what you're expaining. I'm going to try it and see how it runs. Does your B18C have the port in the back of the intake (1/4" line) and one on top where the cold air hook up is (3/8" next to the map sensor)? Mine has these two ports so I'm asuming that I need to tee them both together and also connect them to the brake boost line after the check valve and also to the purge solenoid valve. Sound right?

Ignore the port on the MAP sensor, JDM engines don't use that port even though you may have seen it on a diagram for a USDM engine. If you have a port on the IM, that's where you can put the other end of the EVAP purge solenoid hose. One end goes from the canister into the purge solenoid, the other end from purge to port on the IM. Normally, JDM IMs don't have that extra port for the purge solenoid which is why I said to t-off your brake booster line. If you have a port on the IM, use that instead of what I said.

Alright cool, then I'm st all I really need to do is run the other side of the purge solenoid valve to the back of the IM and I'm good. should I put one of those mini filter on the port next to the map sensor for just not worry about it. I can't remember off hand if that port is sucking or blowing air.
