Default em1--skunk2 dual bend

i posted this in tech/misc. but wasnt getting any hits...thought this might get a little more attention here. when i bought my em1 a few years back it came with a short shifter already installed. i am unsure of the brand. i have just had a new clutch installed along with throwout and pilot bearings(oem), bled the clutch lines, adjusted pedal, and had the tranny inspected which turned out to be in great condition (had it rebuilt 2 yrs ago and had carbon coated synchros put in). I am running honda mtf in the trany aswell. well the shifter still doesnt shift the smoothest, and when going in at an angle into 3rd...i am thinking that it could be due to the maybe "crappy" brand...? i have done some searching and found out that when some guys put in better shifters, they get a better smoother feel. i have also added ES urethane bushings. so what would be a good brand shifter to install? i dont want to go back to stock and like the shorter throw. and most importantly i want the shifting to feel butter.

i was looking at the skunk2 dual bend shifter. has anyone had experience with this short shfter? how does it perform with the skunk2 **** teamed up with it? thanx for the help.

Firstly, Honda fluid isn't bad, but there are much better alternatives out there. I use GM Syncromesh Friction Modified. It was a night and day difference to the Honda fluid. First change the fluid, then get back to us.

the heavy skunk2 shiftknob will make your shifts smoother, you can only understand it if you compare the stock one to it, a knockoff will work perfectly fine as well. A longer shifter will make the shifting easier on your hands as well.

thanx for the insight guys. and sorry about putting this in the wrong section, thought i was in the civic section. can any one tell me how far back the shift **** will sit compared to stock(does it move the **** back or toowards the driver?)? the reason i am asking is because i have aftermarket seats with lrg side bolsters...thus my arm sits ahead of the arm rest in my em1. because of this, i dont want the dual bend to set the **** too far back. also is the shifter about the same height as the stock shifter?...because my short thro is quite low and prefer a higher **** position. i really want to run of the s2 with thier ****, but cant decide on either the single or dual bend. since i have a single bend already, id like to try the dual(i think it will ease up shifting)...but dont want it to sit too far back.
thanx

well i went from a dual bend gsr in my old civic coupe, to a shitty stock single bend in my new coupe. i then went to the s2 dual bend and i love it. the single bend sits in the middle really, and sits upwards. i made a thread about this same exact question as our having, go with the s2 dual bend. you will not be dissapointed, my word on it.

I doubt the shifter is the cause of the slop, more likely worn bushings or incorrect installation.

looks like you put the shifter in backwards. like you need to turn it around. i have done that once before.

quik update: got the S2 dual bend and S2 shift **** installed a few days ago. The results are amazing. much more precise throws. feels more comfortable to go through the gears and also slides into gears very smoothly. the position of the shifter puts the **** in the perfect position in all gears. i still notice some notchiness going into third at times but i think this is due to some of the play i still have left in the bushings up front by the spring pin connecting point. all in all i am very pleased with S2 shifter...and comparing it to my last short throw (unsure of the brand and was a single bend), the difference is night and day.
