EGG in the RADIATOR????!!
Ok, My car been running good for a couple of days, and yesterday is was like -2 degrees and in the morning when I try to start the car, it wouldn't start, Figure it was tooo cold. So I waited till it got warmer and after 2 or 3 times, it start. I drove it around for a bit and notice there is coolant leak around by my water pump and alternator. Now, I was told to crack an egg and add pepper, and then dump it in the radiator, then run it for 10-20 min. then drain it and replace wit new coolant. Anyone ever try this before? I knw it's on myth buster, but I just want to be safe on this. thanks.

Re: EGG in the RADIATOR????!!
Well, it's freaking cold here and I have no garage. And not money right now to fix it. And I need to the car to drive to work and stuff. So I was just asking as a temporary fix. Think this will work though?

I've never heard of it but Ferio confirmed it can work. I guess you could try it but I would think the egg would just bake into your water pump and clog up your thermostat. What is the pepper for.. that special spice for your car?

lol yeah the pepper doesnt make sense!!
on mythbuster it worked. they punctured a HOLE into the rad about the size of a normal screw driver, ran the car and of course a steady stream leak shooting through the hole, they cracked open ONE egg, dropped the yoke and egg white into the rad, and seconds! later the leaked completely stopped lol!!
but i would only do this as a last resort, meaning i stuck in the middle of BFE and i just went grocery shopping an have a dozen eggs on hand haha!!

Lol it really can't be good for your cooling system. Imagine what it going to do to the heater core, rad fins, thermostat, and the water pump.

The egg trick is for a hole in the radiator, not a leak somewhere else in the system. I doubt an egg would even make it all the way to the water pump or water pump side of the engine; it'd be cooked and solidified before it reached there. You could try that Stop Leak stuff, but that stuff is horrible.
