Default eg radiator fan problems

i know this topic has been discussed many times, but really i have a problem i cant seem to figure out.

the radiator fan works when i jump wire them to battery's terminals, it spins.

but when all is wired and plugged in. it doesnt spin at all and my temperature is stay below cold all the time.

ground is on thermostat housing, and the ground for the fan switch is on the inside wall onto fender support. cooling fan fuse is still intact.

my thinking is, the switches on the thermostat or the ect on the cylinder head could be bad?

right now i have looped the wire onto thermostat switch so that fan spins while engine is running, for temporary until i get this figured out. i hate not knowing my engine's temperature.

currently b16a swap into eg hatch 93. i believe ect and all other sensors are interchangeable between d series and b series? cause i may have several sensors to try out.

Do you know if your car is actually getting hot?

I don't know what the temperatures are like where you are at now. If it's really cold where you live, the aluminum engine could be not getting hot enough to require the radiator fan.

Last winter my fan never kicked on and I was a little concerned, once the outside temps came up (closer to summer) I finally noticed my idle drop from the fan kicking in.

Might not be your situation but throwing it out there just in case.

no its not because of that. i live in florida, it gets hot here, i can feel my engines hot at normal temperature but the gauge still stays below cold. it just doesnt work. something to do with ect or the cluster gauge itself.

You must get the temp gauge working if it's faulty.

With the key in ON(II), if you ground the 1-wire connector for the temp gauge sending unit below the distributor, does the needle on the temp gauge rise toward hot?

Are you sure the thermostat is not stuck open making the engine run cold?

Replace the sending unit, and then bleed the cooling system.

Also unshort the switch connector on the thermostat housing to see whether the radiator fan works properly after the bleed.
