Re: EG dual gauge Vent-Pod 92-95 Civic prototype with functional vent
So far so good. Thank you!
Lol reminds me of that Beastie Boys song "Crafty". Grass-e-*** man!
Thanks. I actually did a drink holder on the Teg for the middle console. That way it fits 32/44oz dewzers. Just a simple flat piece of carbon with a large hole.
It took a few more days than I expected. Kind of a pain when you don't own the car your making a part for.
I did a carbon block off plate for those who don't want air going up through there. Also some gauges such as coolant temp with the sensor already attached won't fit through the vent slats so replacing the vent with a block off plate is the way to go. As far the height, they're as low profile as they can be without part of the gauge disapearing inside the dash.
Yessir! Right now..
Thanks homie!
Thank you everyone for your encouragement, input, and suggestions!
Here's some update pictures with the faceplate. The first 2 pics are with the vent installed. The last 4 pics are with a carbon fiber block off replacing the vent. The scrap piece of carbon I made the block off with isn't perfectly flat and bows up slightly in the middle.

Heres an idea? I love the way this looks, don't get me wrong. But instead of mounting the pod molding on top of the vent, why not take the vent out and have the gauges sit. Down inside it? Everyone already said they never use that vent, it wouldn't stick out, and the pods could angle slightly up and over to the drivers eye. Wouldnt stick out as much. Just a thought. And then build in a block off plate to close that vent.

I have to say that this is easily the best gauge install i have ever seen in an eg... i think the faceplate w/ blockoff plate looks better....its just cleaner. been following this for awhile myself and i will throw myself in on this with everyone else.... you mass them ill buy one

Imagine, black screen, to fit inside, and around the gauges. This would keep it functional, but give a nicer look ,rather than seeing the grill of the vent below the gauges.

wow, just wow.... It does look much cleaner with the face plate and block off plate.
I too would love one if you start massing them ^.^

From a designers standpoint I think it needs to be made out of one piece of ABS. I sketched it out here.

People don't seem to want the vent to be functional though. Some worry about hot air going past their gauges and most just keep the vent closed because its for the back seat.
Thank you very much!
Nice sketch! Thanks for taking the time to draw, scan, and upload. Definitely helps visualize. Although it would flow best being one piece it would limit other versions. Completely new pods would need to be made for a RHD (right hand drive) version, digital display such as the TunerView, Navi, or any other device that someone could potentially want to mount in there. With a separate faceplate, just the faceplate can be adapted to house whatever they want within the shells constraints.

Re: EG dual gauge Vent-Pod 92-95 Civic prototype with functional vent
what is the dimensions as far as the faceplate is concerned??
i was actually just wondering about putting a tunerview(bigger version) in it that would be sick!
If need be would there be room to raise the top portion up to make the faceplate bigger to be able to accomodate for a tunerview instad of just the 2 gauges??

Re: EG dual gauge Vent-Pod 92-95 Civic prototype with functional vent
Thank you much! It's still in the development/prototype stage.
Interesting you ask! This is actually something I'm currently working on. It's approx. 6.3" wide so it more than would fit the large size TunerViewII's width. Im re-designing a shell that could accommodate 52mm gauges, 60mm gauges, the large (or reg.) TunerViewII digital display, and most gps devices such as Garmin nuvi. Pretty much anything you would want to mount up in there within the size constraints. Then I will design mounting solutions for each of the popular devices.
Glad you like it! Thanks for the props.

Re: EG dual gauge Vent-Pod 92-95 Civic prototype with functional vent
I have been looking for something like this for my 94 hatch as well. Please let me know if this happens or not. Definitely interested. Good compromise between sleeper/accessibility. Our particular cars don't have much in the way of mounting options aside from "frog eyes" and the steering column for those of us that wanna' take the low key route.
