Del Sol - Whining noise from Steering rack?
I'm having this problem with my Del Sol but it's intermittent and I only get it when the car is moving straight. It will start or stop when I go over a small bump (or not).

Re: Whinning noise, Steering rack?
Guaranteed it was low power steering fluid buddy. If its not low it can also be "burnt" fluid which needs replacement. Lastly, the power steering pump could be on its way out. Check in that order. Hope that helps

Metal-on-metal squeaking noise? If so, check whether the wheel splash guard is bent and rubbing on the brake rotor. Also, check for worn brake pads. The wear indicator may be sounding.

Re: Del Sol - Whining noise from Steering rack?
A follow up note. First, forgive me, I did not give all details. I did not because I thought they were not relevant. Here they are. Recently I had a valve job done on this car. I did not do the actual head work but I removed and reinstalled the head. After this work, the speedometer's needle was now off by five to ten mph. Along with his variance came this intermittent noise. I'm now thinking the noise is coming from the vehicle speed sensor (VSS). The manual states there is a "direct link". Does it make sense? My plan is to simply disconnect the VSS's plug, take out the VSS then reinstall it. What do you think? Thanks.
