Does Civic Have ANY Power In 5th Gear?
Does a D16Y8 M/T have any power in 5th gear (at 60 mph, 2500-3000 rpm)
(on level ground)
I cannot accelerate in 5th just maintain my speed and can slightly speed up going downhill...
In 4th I can accelerate at a acceptable rate (at 60 mph) (3000-3500 rpm)
I think my TPS is off and giving me low power (80% TPS at WOT) (4.3 Volts) Or am I just expecting more power then I should.
Any advice or suggestions MUCH appreciated.

clutch slipping ? there's lots of factors that could cause a loss of power feel. but fwiw my stock d16y7 with 355,xxxKM's can accelerate in 5th when going 100(60)Km's.

Put a new hampster in the wheel and that should take care of the problem
Timing could be out a bit as well causing you to not get power. Or could be something simple like a super dirty air filter. When did you last do or have a tune up on the car?

^ you b00sted your grocery getter...
lol..
i have 2 d16y7 powered cars as we speak that are getting swapped but i notice that in5th gear it will barely gain any speed let alone barely maintain going up a hill... they are pathetic (d16y7)
my 94 hatch is almost like a little truck with its retarded little tail gate and its gutted rear i can put grocerys and some 2X4's and a 56" flatscreen in the back LOL.

Re: Does Civic Have ANY Power In 5th Gear?
Trying to accelerate a stock d series in fifth is like trying to milk a bull. Not much will happen other than some one being upset in the end.
I use to have to down shift on the smallest of hills to maintain speed of 45 or more. Now with my gsr swap, I stay in fifth and can even pass in fifth.

Yeah I was quite thrilled with losing my d15 auto for my gsr with a manual.
It brought a little tear to my eye going up a hill in the fast lane on the freeway in 5th and the little guy was still pulling pretty hard.
