Default ...detonation?

Engine: B20b/gsr head, greddy oil plate

the day i blew the intake manifold gasket...it made a ticking noise under load, when at idle it was fine....but like i said when loading onto trailer you could hear it. When i changed my oil, it was clean....level was fine, wen i dumped antifreeze...it was clean, level was low of course from emptying thru coolant port on intake mani.

The break in the gasket...

since my oil was clean i figure my headgasket is fine.....i was gonna replace the oil pan, intake/exhaust mani, and valve cover gasket. fresh fluids and filters and swap the engine into my hatch...... i wanna get your guys take on the situation tho.

I think you aren't clear on what detonation is. Possibly you have an issue with your valves. Where is the ticking coming from?

the head, it always had a slight tick because it needed a valve adjustment, but it was a louder than id ever heard.

Does it sounds like chains dragging on the ground? Check Youtube and listen to some sound clips just to make sure. Double check your timing.

That particular hole that's blown out on your intake manifold gasket is for the cooland port through the manifold and head. Is there anything in your cooling system that's been modified/replaced? Hoses, radiator, overflow tank, cap?
