Default D16z6 vtec solenoid leak and motor oil in tranny?

Figured out where the leak was coming from and it was on top of my motor. So located it by the vtec solenoid. I see secretions, and the oil or whatever coming out of it always drips off to the ground when I park somewhere 2-3 drops a day, so I'm thinking I have to replace the gasket. Is Honda the only place I can get that gasket? And is it as easy as 1, 2, 3? Take off the vtec solenoid, take off the old gasket, replace new gasket... Bolt it back on? Don't wanna do something stupid o;

and I know my tranny need refilling... Went to Honda and the tranny fluid was 10 dollars each bottle! I was surprised. Then, took the car to a friend's brother 's place and he said I could've just got regular motor oil. Is that true? Thanks.

VTEC solenoid gasket is straight forward. Make sure the solenoid is clean of debris and not clogged or gunked up.

Manual or auto trans? If you absolutely don't have trans fluid in a manual, you can use straight 90weight

Don't put 90w in a EG tranny.

Use 5/30 or 10/30 or if your going to be pushing some HP use the Honda Maunal tranny fluid.

Look for number 13 it's the gasket you need. There are 3 bolts.

Thanks. I put 5w-30 in it and it's shifting great.
For the gaskets, is it only one I have to replace that lines the solenoid or is it advisable to change the cam seal as well?

As for the trans fluid question, yes MTF is best for it, but yes you can use motor oil. You should really use a straight "weight" oil in the trans though. Like 30, not 5w-30 or 10w-30 (those have varying viscosities). I haven't heard of using gear oil (rear diff oil [90 weight]) in a manual trans before that stuff is super thick, but if people do it and it works, okay.
As for the oil leak at the VTEC valve assembly. You need to be more clear. There are three sealing areas right there. There is the VTEC solenoid (round cyliner sticking up on top with three bolts holding it's bottom plate down), the VTEC oil pressure switch (two pin connector screws into valve body), and the VTEC spool valve body (three larger bolts, bolts to the cylinder head, has what is called a "spool valve assembly filter" [o-ring/screen] between it and the cylinder head).
There is no "cam seal" at that end of the cylinder head. There's just an o-ring on the distributor base that seals. It does wear out commonly.
