d16z6 transmission and axle question
Hi,
I have a 95 Del Sol Si that I got about 3 years ago. I noticed that the previous owner swapped the transmission. I can't get a hold of him anymore. So I was wondering if any D series axles will fit whatever tranny it is I have?
How can I identify what transmission I have? or what transmissions fit a d16z6?
I need to replace my axles, and I have no clue what tranny I have to get the axles. I know for sure its not a d16z6 tranny because previous owner told me but I can't remember.
any help will be greatly appreciated.

Look at the trans near the fill bolt there is a small stamp in the casting it will say B000 if its d16z6 trans A000 if its any of the other 92-95 civic trans. As far as what trim and final grear ratio of the A000 is it hard unless open the case

All '92 - '00 D-series axles are the same other than ABS vs Non-ABS (even then you can use ABS axles in anything) automatic and manual are the same as well.

thank you very much for your help.
I am not worried about what exact tranny I have. I just need some axles for my bone stock Sol.
btw, would I need to know the exact tranny I have if I ever need to do the clutch?
sorry I'm a noob in case you haven't noticed, lol.

No, assuming it's a D-series, all '92 - '00 D-series clutches are the same (disc and pressure plate is actually the same from '90 - '05, possibly all the way up to 2011, years other than '92 - '00 will in some cases use a different pilot and release bearing and possibly a different flywheel in certain cases)

As long as the owner hasn't swapped a different type of engine that would require a different transmission, then no you shouldn't have anything to worry about.

any other info or things I should be aware now that I live with a d16z6 with a different d series tranny?
thanks for the great help from you and everybody else.

Re: d16z6 transmission and axle question
I was able to check today and all I found was a sticker that said "s20-2311093" I was not able to find any other number stamped around, then again its a little dirty around there since I have axle grease all around there. will that number help at all?

Re: d16z6 transmission and axle question
I was finally able to see the stamp today after using some brake cleaner to clean the area. It clearly says P20-B000. So I do have a z6 tranny?

Re: d16z6 transmission and axle question
It's either a Z6 or Y8 tranny (which are geared the same, Y8s had steel shift forks vs the aluminum for the Z6) or it's an HX transmission (geared horribly long)
