D16Z6 problems
i just did a head swap on my d16z6. got the head from a car with 90,000 miles on it. had the head and block resurfaced and tested. complete head gasket set. when i did this i did the water pump got a new timing belt blah blah blah. and got everything back together and i picked up a misfire so i swapped out the fuel filter, distributer, plugs, cap, rotor, plugs are ngk. got a k/n cold air intake. wires tested good, longest one was only 6k ohms shortest was 2.5k.. that way within the 25k limit
after all that i still have a misfire under a load and the car smells like its running rich. sounds like a wrx.
no cels are showing up. fuel injectors are all working and i took my ecu out and put it in another car with the same motor and it worked fine no issues.
timing is good triple checked it. new distributer shouldnt be bad. compression is 155-160 on all cylinders. valve lash is correct. no noises or anything coming from the engine.
not really sure what it could be.
please help

Re: D16Z6 problems
Misfire is only under hard load?, what about idle?, normal driving?.
Seems like a ignition problem! ( Coil, plugs, plugs cables, distri, rotor ), but you already replaced them.
Try to check the Map sensor with a Voltimeter an a vaccum pump. Sometimes a Map can get out of scale ( not very common ), but no CODE because is not complete bad. The same thing goes with Oxygen Sensors. Chech the TPS with a voltimeter, but it should be Ok because you are not geting a CEL CODE.
The very rich fuel mix can be a consecuence of the misfire or the cause of it!
****Check is the spark plugs are in the rigth order in the engine and in the distributor ( 1-3-4-2 )
