Should i change my gasket with a new valve cover
i am looking to purchase a new ctr valve cover for my 00si. i heard that it is a good idea to change my head gasket...is this true?..will i need to buy a new gasket?...also i wanted to get some type r headers...i am questioning if my car will pass smog when i put them in...any advice is appreciated

You do not need to change the head gasket when working on the valve cover... Its wise, however, to change the valve cover gasket. Its not going to hurt, anyway.
Type R header, not plural. You have 1.
They are 2.5" and your cat will need a new flange from 2.25" Whether you'll pass smog or not, depends on the state and ref. Call and check or search the archives for info

the head gasket is bewteen the head and the block like salami in a sandwhich. if that **** is blown its all bad burn coolant overheats. its recommended to change the valve cover gasket. its this black rubber thing that snakes around the inside of the valve cover.
the jdm itr header is 2.5 the usdm isn't. with the jdm itr header and a good stock cat i believe it should pass smog. this guy i know passed on jdm itr header and a good stock cat.
