My friends 97 Civic ex spun a rod or something with her USDM D16y8 non vtec - she doesnt have many choices for a swap since her car is Auto and she doesnt want a 5 speed, so shes putting a OBD1 JDM D15 Vtec in and my only question is I know she needs an OBD2 to OBd1 conversion harness and she needs to wire vtec. But will the plugs on her strut tower plug into an OBD1 harnessed motor or will the old OBD2 harness from her old motor work ... and also iwill the axles work with the 92-95 D15 motor coming in

Simple

axles will work, no problems.... dont know about your harness question but...

her car has too many sensors (crank position sensor, knock, blah blah blah) on odb2... get a conversion harness to convert to odb1, and get an auto p28 ecu... if her car is a 97 civic EX... why would you need to wire vtec again? and there is no D16y8 non vtec motor...

recheck on what you're putting in what... and so on... we can help you better if we know what you're talking about

why not get another y8? theyre dirt cheap and wont have to worry about any wiring bs

Her car is a 97 civic EX but its non vtec Ill look at the code on the block tomorrow maybe the previous owner swapped motors before but since it is EX should it already be wired for vtec even if the motor is not?
