Default clutch seems to slip....

when going from first to second, the clutch seems to stay engaged for a second or two after pedal is released.

i hope its just the clutch and not something worse, any thought?
thanks

you may have a worn pilot bearing, warped clutch disk, master cylinder/slave cylinder leakage, bad pressure plate

check first for leaks, if neither master cylinder(located on firewall) or slave cylinder(located on tranny) are leaking, both the pilot bearing and pressure plate are commonly replaced and easily accesible when replacing a clutch
