Clock turns off when headlights turned on
Vehicle is a 1992 Civic CX w/ b16a2 swap, p72 head, and obd1 p72 ECU.
Got this weird problem. The clock will stay on and keep time, as long as the headlights are not turned on. If I turn the headlights on, the clock starts to dim and within 2 seconds it is completely black and stays that way til I turn the headlights off. It will lose it's time and be back at 1:00 too. Overnight, when I wake up and go to work, the clock is able to keep time, til I turn the headlights on, then it resets again.
Everything else works, radio, dome light, etc.
Another problem is that the climate control backlighting will go in and out. One day the left side of the climate control backlighting will work, the next the the right side will work but the left won't. Then other days the backlighting doesn't work at all.
Also, sometimes the speedometer on the gauge cluster won't work. It will just sit at zero and bounce up and down.
I checked all the fuses and they're good. Tomorrow I'm going to add more grounds to the engine bay too.
Anyone experience these symptoms before and know how to fix it; where to start looking first?

Re: Clock turns off when headlights turned on
im interested to see if more grounds will make your problems stop. i'm experiencing something simliar to that. car goes a while yet after a bit the cluster begins to stop working cluster lights dim and shortly after the car dies. I swapped alternator and battery. and it still does it.

i had these exact same problems...i changed the fuse in the engine bay that i think says "back up" as it was blown....now i have never had that problem.
